Ms. Zhang has more than 13 years of practice experience with a special focus on tax planning. She delivers one-stop "tax + legal + commercial" solutions for enterprises and high net worth individuals.
Ms. Zhang has solid expertise and rich experience in advising on tax planning in relation to enterprise tax compliance investigation and risk prevention, major complicated M&As and restructurings, onshore and offshore listings and privatization, outbound investments, private equity, trust and financial derivatives, application for tax incentives, general corporate tax consulting and structuring for related transactions, supply chain and e-commerce. Her clients are mainly in the retail, internet, financial technology, automobile, pharmaceutical, filming and entertainment, private equity and trust, and real estate industry.
Ms. Zhang has successfully represented clients in tax matters such as tax audit defence, administrative appeal, anti-tax avoidance and transfer pricing audit and tax-related arbitration. She has won trust and recognition from clients.
In recent years, Ms. Zhang has focused on new tax issues arising from the emerging business models and the anti-tax avoidance climate worldwide. She has worked with government agencies and trade associations on the FATCA/CRS initiatives. Ms. Zhang also advises high net worth individuals on tax planning in relation to overseas investment and immigration and family trust.
Ms. Zhang has been named as one of the highly recommended lawyers in the field of tax in China by The Legal 500 for several years in a row.
Work Experience
Ms. Zhang joined King & Wood Mallesons in 2008. Prior to joining King & Wood Mallesons, she worked in New York at a local boutique law firm.
Ms. Zhang graduated from University of International Business and Economics as an undergraduate and then obtained her master degree in University of Washington, specializing in the international taxation law.
Ms. Zhang is a licensed PRC and U.S. (New York State) lawyer.
She is a native Mandarin speaker and fluent in English.
