Areas of Practice
Mr. Simon Yung has extensive experience in corporate commercial as well as in investment fund matters and he has been involved in strategic pre-IPO investments in private companies and projects for Hong Kong and PRC companies. He has also worked on IPOs on stock exchanges in Hong Kong, Shanghai and the United States, as well as compliance issues for Hong Kong-listed companies with Main Board and GEM Listing Rules and all other corporate and securities legislation and regulations.
As well as advising on general corporate commercial and securities matters, including general compliance and legal matters relating to the Securities and Futures Ordinance, Mr. Yung has been involved in setting up investment funds and obtaining authorization of funds by the Securities and Futures Commission.
Mr. Yung's experience also includes mergers and acquisitions, and share transactions of both private and listed companies, including compliance with the Takeovers Code, business acquisitions, corporate restructuring in Hong Kong and the PRC and management buy-outs.
He has played an important role in setting up Sino-foreign joint ventures in mainland China and wholly-foreign-owned enterprises and related matters, including technology transfers. Mr. Yung has worked on direct investments by Hong Kong and overseas investors in Mainland China and other jurisdictions in Southeast Asia, and has been involved in complex corporate structuring arrangements to meet international regulatory and tax planning requirements.
Work Experience
Mr. Yung was admitted as a solicitor in Hong Kong in 1992 and in England and Wales in 1993. From 1994 until 1997, Mr. Yung was a solicitor with a London-based firm, and between 1997 and 2000, served a leading local commercial firm, becoming a partner in 1998.
He is the Honorary Legal Adviser to The Chamber of Hong Kong Listed Companies. Honorary Legal Adviser to Room to Read (Hong Kong) Limited (a charitable organization) and a Council Member of Helping Hand (a charitable organization). He is proficient in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese.
