Emily is a Partner in KWM's Environment, Planning and Native Title team in Melbourne. In her practice, which encompasses front and back-end work, she advises on minerals and resources, environment and planning, native title, aboriginal cultural heritage, OH&S and administrative law issues, including in the context of projects, transactions, incidents, and day to day operations. 

Emily is highly experienced in open cut mining (operations, rehabilitation planning and regulatory approvals) and industrial site closure and repurposing. 

She regularly advises on and represents clients in disputes, civil proceedings, regulatory investigations and enforcement action. She has played a senior role in a number of Commissions and Inquiries, including the 2014 and 2015/2016 Hazelwood Mine Fire Inquiries, the 2020 Royal Commission into National Natural Disaster Arrangements and the Yoorrook Justice Commission (ongoing). Emily has also acted in lengthy criminal prosecution proceedings, including the Hazelwood Mine Fire prosecutions - EPA Victoria and WorkSafe (Supreme Court jury trials), Aboriginal heritage and environmental prosecutions in Victoria, Tasmania and NSW. 

Prior to joining King & Wood Mallesons in 2011, Emily was a Senior Solicitor at the Victorian Government Solicitors Office (VGSO). Emily has been recognised in Doyles Guide and the Legal 500 (Asia Pacific) for her work in Dispute Resolution and Native Title. Clients regard Emily as being “first choice for any complex or strategically important matter" and "impressive and highly dedicated”.
