Ms. Xiong Yan specialises in domestic and cross-border civil and commercial litigation and arbitration.

Ms. Xiong is experienced in handling complex civil and commercial disputes. She has represented domestic and foreign clients in litigations before Chinese courts at all levels, including retrial cases before the Supreme People's Court. She has also represented clients in domestic and international arbitrations before the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC), the Beijing Arbitration Commission (BAC), the International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce (SCC) Arbitration Institute, the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC), the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC), as well as ad hoc arbitration under the arbitration rules of the London Maritime Arbitrators Association (LMAA). The breadth of her casework spans diverse areas, including commercial contracts, international trade, letters of credit and independent guarantee, technology licensing and technical secrets, PPP projects, construction projects, shipping and maritime, offshore construction, joint venture, corporate equity, and recognition and enforcement of foreign arbitration awards in China.  

In addition, she advises large state-owned and private enterprises on their daily business operation, major business contracts, and risk and compliance management, among others. She also assists clients with their commercial negotiations and pre-litigation/arbitration dispute resolution.  Her clients span a wide range of industries, including energy, manufacturing, infrastructure, real estate, insurance and biopharmaceuticals. 

Work experience

Ms. Xiong joined King & Wood Mallesons in 2015.

Ms. Xiong obtained her LL.B and LL.M from Renmin University of China. She also holds a MJur degree from University of Oxford.

Her working languages are Chinese and English.
