Veg is an experienced intellectual property lawyer, specialising in complex patent and commercial disputes, IP commercialisation and regulatory compliance matters.
Veg holds a First Class Honours degree in Biotechnology and has gained valuable industry experience from her training at leading research and development organisations such as the Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) for Biopharmaceuticals (where her research focused on biotechnological approaches to developing probiotics and prebiotics for use in the treatment of various human health conditions) and the Garvan Institute of Medical Research (where her Honours research involved the study of breast and colon cancer antigens for the development of biological therapeutics).
Given her technical background and extensive litigation experience in matters before the High Court and Federal Court and in Australian Patent Office proceedings, Veg practices intellectual property law with a specific interest in the life sciences, biotechnology, pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical and food and agricultural technology industries. She has acted for a large number of clients with substantial global business operations and has significant experience working within multi-jurisdictional teams in patent prosecution and enforcement matters. Many of these clients are the owners of extensive and highly valuable intellectual property portfolios world-wide, and are leading companies within their fields, including within the pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical, information technology and software, entertainment, media and finance industries.
Veg serves on IP Australia's Trans-Tasman IP Attorneys Board (formerly known as the Professional Standards Board).
