Ms. Mia Qu is a partner of King & Wood Mallesons Shanghai Office, specializing in intellectual property law, software and IT law, data and privacy law, internet & e-commerce law, anti-trust & competition law, and dispute resolution.

Ms.Qu is a well-recognized litigator. She is experienced in the industries of software, the internet, e-commerce, healthcare, chemical engineering, semi-conductor, telecommunication, and electronic devices. The types of disputes she handled include patent, trade secret, copyright (including software copyright), anti-trust and unfair competition, trademark, domain name, data, privacy and right of fame, and technology related contractual disputes. 

Ms. Qu is a well-known practitioner among clients and peers. She has handled some high-profile and complicated cases, which have received extensive media exposure and have been listed as annual top cases by different levels of courts. She was honoured as one of the "Client Choice Top 20 Lawyers in China" in 2012 by ALB based on surveys among in-house counsel. She was further honoured as one of the "Top 15 Litigators in China" in 2014 by ALB and was the only female lawyer on the list. Ms. Qu was also selected as Partner of the Year by KWM in 2013, Outstanding Litigator of Changning District of Shanghai in 2013 and KWM Outstanding Female Dispute Resolution Partner in 2010, 2011, and 2012. In 2015, she was named one of the highly recommended lawyers in both dispute resolution and IP practice areas in China by Legal 500 in its 2016 Asia Pacific rankings. Ms. Qu has been ranked as "Leading Lawyer" by Chambers Asia Pacific Guide for four consecutive years since 2016 in the area of intellectual property litigation. Ms. Qu was also ranked among WIPR (World Intellectual Property Review) Leaders in 2017. Most recently, a series of patent infringement cases represented by Ms. Qu was named to the 2016 List of Deals of the Year by China Business Law Journal and one case represented by Ms.Qu for China Unionpay was listed as 20 Typical Cases of 2016 by Shanghai Intellectual Property Court. 

Ms. Qu sits as an arbitrator at the Shanghai International Arbitration Center. She is also a member of the Information Network and High-tech Committee of the PRC National Bar Association.

Work experience

Ms. Qu joined King & Wood Mallesons in 2002. Prior to that, she worked at a law firm and a communication equipment listed company.

She was admitted as an attorney-at-law in China in 1998 and a trademark attorney in 2000.
