Patrick specialises in large-scale general commercial disputes and contentious restructuring and insolvency. He has diverse experience across different sectors, including banking, finance, retail, construction and mining sectors. 

Patrick has acted on a wide diverse range of disputes, including sale and purchase agreements, commercial contracts, offtake agreements, shareholder disputes, and statutory claims under both the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth) and the Australian Consumer Law.

Patrick has also worked on numerous complex and high-profile external administrations, advising on contentious aspects of the appointments, including successfully prosecuting novel court applications and recovery actions when advising and acting for external administrators.

As a result, Patrick has developed experience in superior courts across most State and Federal jurisdictions, including the Federal Court of Australia.

Patrick’s recent matter highlights include:

  • Clough Group: advising the external administrators in relation to the administration, sale and restructure of the Clough Group, including proceedings in the Federal Court of Australia.
  • Forex Capital Trading: advising liquidators in relation to novel voidable transaction and recovery claims on behalf of Forex Capital, including proceedings in the Federal Court of Australia and Supreme Court of New South Wales.
  • Griffin Coal Mining Company: advising the company in relation to a dispute concerning an offtake agreement and force majeure claims in proceedings in the Supreme Court of Western Australia.
  • Alita Resources Group: advising the external administrators in relation to the receivership, sale and restructure of ASX/SGX dual listed Alita Resources, including proceedings in the Supreme Court of Western Australia.
  • Probuild Group: advising the external administrators in relation to the administration, sale and restructure of Probuild, and various ongoing litigation arising out of the administration and previous construction on projects.
  • Building products: Acting for a manufacturer in the defence of a consumer law class action regarding aluminium composite panel cladding products in the Federal Court of Australia.
  • Deliveroo: acting for the administrators in the high profile administration of Deliveroo Australia and the subsequent deed of company arrangement. The company was placed into voluntary administration by its parent company to facilitate the orderly exit from the Australian market. The matter was significant as it impacted over 12,000 restaurant partners and 15,000 rider partners, in the lead up to the festive season.
  • International hotel owner: acting for an international hotel owner in a dispute with the State of Western Australia regarding compensation as a result of the impact of the Hotel Quarantine Program during COVID-19.
  • One Global Capital: advising the company in relation to various disputes regarding large-scale apartment and hotel developments in across Sydney.
