Ms. Niu specializes in intellectual property, particularly in patent prosecution and litigation matters related to advanced technology such as life sciences, chemicals and pharmaceuticals.

Ms. Niu has a solid technical background and extensive legal experience. With her comprehensive view of legal provisions and accurate understanding on technical issues, Ms. Niu is an expert at discovering reasonable, reachable and effective solutions for assisting clients in pursuing their business goals. The extensive experience of Ms. Niu covers a wide range of industries, including life sciences, health industries, pharmaceuticals, material industries, food industries, agricultural technology, organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, polymers, and chemical engineering among others.

Ms. Niu has been providing patent-related legal services to a large number of famous international and domestic companies for many years. In addition to handling many patent applications in the fields of life sciences, chemicals and pharmaceuticals, Ms. Niu also represented several multinational companies in patent invalidation and patent litigation cases. Ms. Niu  also provides comprehensive legal services in patent infringement analysis, patent validity analysis, FTO (Free to Operate) searches, due diligence, patent portfolio strategy, drug registration, as well as patent licensing and assignment.

Work Experience

Ms. Niu joined King & Wood Mallesons in 2012. Prior to that, she worked as a patent attorney at an Intellectual Property firm for eight years.

Ms. Niu graduated from College of Life Sciences of Peking University with a bachelor degree in 2002, and received an MPhil degree from Division of Life Science of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2004.

Ms. Niu was admitted as a Chinese patent attorney in 2007 and an attorney-at-law in 2015.

Ms. Niu can work in Japanese and English in addition to Chinese (native language).
