Li Pengfei specialises in real estate and infrastructure, new energy and traditional energy investment, financing and M&A, financing and debt restructuring of distressed real estate projects, and corporate compliance and risk management and control.
Mr. Li has been extensively involved in the real estate and infrastructure sectors, earning a solid reputation in the industry. Particularly, he excels in handling primary and secondary development and construction in real estate, financing, acquisition, and sales of commercial and residential real estate, industrial and warehouse real estate, cultural and tourism real estate, and elderly care real estate, distressed asset disposal and bankruptcy and reorganisation, transfer of rural collective-owned land, industrial land acquisition, urban renewal and redevelopment, listing and M&A of real estate investment trust (REIT) funds, financing, development, and operation of Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) projects, as well as financing, investment, management of domestic and overseas real estate funds, and exit strategies for various types of real estate projects.
Mr. Li has provided legal services for large real estate companies, SOEs, multinationals, and well-known domestic and overseas real estate funds. He advises clients on domestic and overseas financing structuring, land investment, cooperative development, construction, M&A, legal due diligence, project negotiations, drafting of transaction documents, issuance of legal opinions, project delivery, and integrated operations. He is particularly experienced in industrial land acquisition, involving such industries as pharmaceuticals and medical devices, traditional energy and new energy, Internet, and culture and entertainment.

Work experience
Prior to joining King & Wood Mallesons in 2023, Mr. Li worked as a partner and the head of the relevant practice groups in two reputable Chinese law firms.
Mr. Li holds an LLM in Economic Law from East China University of Political Science and Law and Ruhr-Universität Bochum. He is a PRC licensed lawyer, and is also qualified as a securities practitioner and independent director for listed companies.
