Ms. Jiao Hongbin specializes in intellectual property litigation and dispute resolution, and she has over seventeen years of experience in this practice area.
Ms. Jiao has assisted many well-known domestic and international enterprises in resolving intellectual property disputes in China. She represents clients in intellectual property-related cases including those involving trademark infringement (including recognition of well-known trademarks), copyright infringement (including software), anti-unfair competition (including trade dress and trade secrets) and patent infringement. Ms. Jiao handled quite a few high-profile cases, such as several disputes regarding the world famous online game, World of Warcraft, the dispute regarding ownership of the trademark by a well-known technology company, and the dispute regarding the specific packaging and decoration of the famous “Wang Lao Ji” herbal tea. Several cases have been selected as model cases of the SPC or Beijing courts for protection of intellectual property rights. Tesla Trademarks's invalidation administrative lawsuit, Jiang Xiaobai's Trademarks's invalidation and other widely concerned cases.
Ms. Jiao's practice areas also cover trademark-related administrative litigation, such as those involving trademark cancellations and invalidations. She also provides non-litigation IP-related legal consulting and transactional advice as well as IP administrative and Customs protection to domestic and international corporations to protect and enforce clients’ intellectual property rights and interests in China.
Work experience
Ms. Jiao joined King & Wood Mallesons ("KWM") in 2004. Prior to joining KWM, she worked at, respectively, a law firm in Shanghai and an intellectual property agency in Beijing. Ms. Jiao was admitted as a Chinese lawyer in 2000.
Ms. Jiao obtained her LL.B. from the China University of Political Science and Law in 1999, and her LL.M. degrees from, respectively, the University of Manchester in 2002 and the Pennsylvania State University in 2013.
Ms. Jiao's working languages are Chinese and English.
