Areas of practice

Mr. Qiu specializes in cross-border investments, M&A, and cross-borders financing.

He has handled and participated in many projects with respect to cross-borders investment, mergers and acquisitions, cross-borders financing, including IPO, structured finance, fund formation, issue of various debt instruments, and has advised clients from a wide range of industries, including securities, insurance, hotel, real estate, mining, power generation, media and tourism. Mr. Qiu's legal services also include advising on industry policies, administrative approval procedures and coordinating with relevant government organizations. He is praised by clients for his deep understanding of China government policies toward in-bound and out-bound FDI.

Work experience

Mr. Qiu joined King & Wood Mallesons in 2010. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Qiu worked with Department of Trading Policy and Development and Department of Treaty and Law of the Ministry of Commerce ("MOFCOM") of the People's Republic of China, and the Hong Kong Chinese Enterprises Association.

Mr. Qiu received his LL.B. from the University of International Business and Economics, his LL.B. in Common Law from the University of London (External Programme) and a Diploma of Common Law Studies from University of Hong Kong. He obtained his MBA from KDI School of Public Policy and Management.

Mr. Qiu is also an arbitrator at the the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC).

Mr. Qiu's working languages are Chinese (both Mandarin and Cantonese) and English.
