Kathy Fan mainly specialises in the fields of renewable energy and real estate.
In the field of renewable energy, Kathy advises domestic and international institutional investors and major state-owned enterprises (SOEs) on broad range of matters, including the financing and acquisition of PV power plants and wind power plants in China. She is experienced in advising domestic clients, including major renewable energy companies, on the acquisition of PV power plants and wind power plants in Anhui, Hebei, Henan, Shandong and many other provinces, and provides legal services for the development and investment of projects. Kathy has also participated in the major restructuring of the renewable energy division of a SOE. She is also experienced in advising international clients, including international funds and renowned companies on their investments in solar PV power plants and offshore wind power plants. She has represented an international capital fund in the subscription of overseas convertible US dollar bonds and conducted legal due diligence on the domestic renewable energy assets held by the issuer.
In the field of real estate, Kathy has extensive experience in advising international investment banks, multinational corporations, reputable domestic companies and domestic and foreign funds in their investments in real estate projects through M&A or joint venture, including commercial real estate properties, data centers, warehousing and logistics, industrial parks, elderly care communities, highways and other infrastructures. She provides regular advisory services for leading international hotel management companies. She was counsel for a renowned hotel brand on nearly 100 domestic hotel franchise, hotel management and service apartment licensing projects. She is also very experienced in non-performing assets disposal and bailout of real estate companies.
Kathy Fan was ranked as a leading lawyer in Real Estate by Chambers Greater China Region Guide in 2022-2024,Chambers Asia Pacific Guide in 2019 -2021. She was named as one of the highly recommended lawyers in the field of Projects and Energy in 2024, in Real Estate and Construction in 2023-2024, in Corporate and M&A in 2022 by the Legal 500.

Kathy Fan obtained her Bachelor of Law and Bachelor of Economics degrees from Peking University in 2005, and she was admitted to practice in PRC in the same year.
