David Phua is a Partner based in the Singapore office of King & Wood Mallesons.
David has a broad corporate and commercial practice, with a focus on the energy and infrastructure sector. He has over 15 years’ experience advising on cross-border mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, project development as well as commodity offtake and marketing matters. In the energy industry, David has represented clients on market-leading transactions across the oil and gas, mining, power and renewable energy sectors. In particular, he has extensive experience in the LNG sector, where he has advised on the development and structuring of multi-billion dollar LNG export and import projects, and also the negotiation and drafting of long-term LNG sale and purchase agreements.
Apart from his wider international practice, David is also a member of our China Energy and Resources practice. He frequently advises Chinese clients on their outbound investment and energy project matters.
Prior to joining KWM, he worked for a number of years with top-tier US and UK international law firms in their energy and corporate teams.
David is qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales, as well as an advocate and solicitor of Singapore. He graduated from Trinity Hall at the University of Cambridge.
