Ms. Zhang Mei specializes in commercial litigation and arbitration, and alternative dispute resolutions for commercial disputes. She has more than 17 years' experience in domestic and foreign commercial dispute resolutions.
Ms. Zhang Mei has represented various domestic and foreign clients in hundreds of domestic and cross-border commercial litigation and arbitration cases. Her spread of knowledge and expertise is across diverse sectors and fields, including trade and contract, corporate investment, merger and acquisition, foreign investment, private equity, banking and finance, PPP, equipment procurement, construction project and contract, real estate, intellectual property, product liability, and recognition and enforcement of foreign arbitration awards in China, etc. She is very experienced in handling litigation cases before PRC courts at all levels and arbitrations at international arbitration institutions, such as the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC), the Beijing Arbitration Commission (BAC), the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC), the Singapore International Arbitration Center (SIAC), the Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC)), as well as industrial arbitrations through the Grain and Feed Trade Association (GAFTA) and ad hoc arbitrations.
Ms. Zhang Mei has extensive experience particularly in the area of corporate litigation and merger and acquisition disputes. She has represented corporate clients and institutional investors in disputes in relation to corporate investment, merger and acquisition, private equity fund, shareholder related litigation, infringement claims against directors and senior management, and related-party transactions, etc., and is skilled at dispute resolution in relation to joint venture agreement as well as the dissolution and liquidation of joint ventures. She has also dealt with dozens of litigations and arbitrations in relation to VIE structures. In addition, Ms. Zhang Mei is experienced in brokerage contract and copyright disputes in entertainment industry.
Ms. Zhang Mei has served as long term legal counsel for several large state-owned enterprises, import and export trade companies, energy enterprises, investment companies, real estate developers and renowned private enterprises. The legal service includes rendering legal advice on daily business, major contracts, domestic and overseas investment projects, corporate governance and risk and compliance management, participating in project negotiations, drafting, reviewing and preparing various contracts and legal documents in Chinese and English, proposing advices and solutions for potential disputes arising from corporate governance and assisting clients in risk controls.
Work Experience
Ms. Zhang Mei joined King & Wood Mallesons in 2008. Prior to that, she practiced in a boutique law firm in Beijing specializing in foreign-related arbitration and litigation for nearly ten years.
Ms. Zhang Mei graduated from the School of Law of University of International Business and Economics, where she obtained her LL.B. and LL.M. She was qualified as a Chinese lawyer in 1998.
Ms. Zhang Mei's working languages are Chinese and English.
