Jane Wu, a practicing lawyer and a patent attorney, focuses on both contentious and non-contentious IP matters in China, specializing in dealing with disputes over patents, trade secrets, copyright (including software copyright), trademarks, unfair competition, data, privacy, right to reputation, and technology contracts, as well as IPR licensing and transfer, FTO search & analysis, patent strategy, mining & application and other non-contentious matters.
Ms. Wu has represented many clients in defending their IPRs in China in such industries as pharmaceuticals, medical instruments, chips, AI, big data, chemicals and new materials, automobiles, telecommunications, shipbuilding, rail transit, other precision manufacturing industries and the internet industry.
Ms. Wu always strives for perfection. She has been highly praised by clients for her professional expertise and service quality. A number of major complicated cases she represented have been selected as typical cases of the year by courts, including:

a trademark infringement case brought against a foreign bank selected as one of the representative cases of the year by Shanghai Pudong New District People's Court;

an automobile engine patent infringement case selected as one of the Top 10 representative cases of the year by Jiangsu High People's Court;

trade secret misappropriation and computer software copyright infringement case series between a famous financial company in China and its former employees. In such cases, the issuance of the very first exit ban and the second-to-six pre-trial interlocutory injunctions by Shanghai IP Court ever since its establishment has aroused extensive attention in China.
Work Experience
Before rejoining King & Wood Mallesons Shanghai office in 2016, Ms. Wu worked as an a patent attorney in Plasseraud IP Limited (Shanghai), a leading French IP firm, between 2010 and 2012, an associate in KWM Shanghai office between 2012 and 2014, and an associate in Fangda Partners Shanghai Office and Mayer Brown Shanghai Office between 2014 and 2016.
She obtained her bachelor's degree in Engineering and LL.M. from Shanghai University. She was admitted as a lawyer in China in 2008 and a patent attorney in 2011.
Her working languages are Chinese and English.
