Yuji Sun specializes in general corporate and commercial matters, venture capital financing, mergers and acquisitions and technology transactions.
Yuji has more than 15 years of experience advising clients in the US and China. He has extensive experience in corporate and commercial laws in the US, including the formation and financing of startup and merging companies, complex commercial transactions such as strategic alliance and technology licensing, and mergers, acquisitions and divestitures. Yuji focuses his work in the technology sector, providing counseling to senior executives on a variety of strategic decisions and transactions, including manufacture, outsourcing, procurement, sales, acquisitions/integrations and regulatory inquiries. He has also participated in numerous venture capital financing transactions, representing both companies and investors in all stages. Yuji regularly advises Chinese companies on doing business in the US. Earlier in his career, Yuji represented multinationals in direct investment transactions and generally in doing business in China.
Work experience
Yuji joined King & Wood Mallesons in 2017. Prior to that, Yuji was Associate General Counsel of HP Inc. (f/k/a Hewlett-Packard Company), overseeing all legal support of HP Inc.'s worldwide service and solutions business. During his tenure of more than eight years at HP, he held various senior positions, including managing all legal affairs of HP's mobility division. Prior to joining HP, he worked at a well-known Silicon Valley law firm for four years. Before moving to the U.S., Yuji practiced law in Shanghai for more than seven years, working with a Shanghai law firm and later at the Shanghai offices of a U.S. law firm.
Yuji earned his JD from Northwestern University School of Law (Chicago), his LLM from University of Pennsylvania Law School and his LLB from Fudan University in China.
Yuji is licensed to practice in California. He is fluent in Mandarin and English.
