Ms. Miriam Lau specializes in general litigation law.
She has practiced as a Public Notary and as a China-Appointed Attesting Officer in Hong Kong since 1987 and 1995, respectively.
Work Experience
Ms. Lau has a long and distinguished record of public service and has been involved in a variety of councils and committees. She has been the Chairman of the House Committee of the Legislative Council since 2003. Ms. Lau was a member of the Legislative Council of Hong Kong from 1988 to 1997. She has also been a member of the Legislative Council of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region since 1998. Ms. Lau is the Chairwoman of the Liberal Party of Hong Kong. She is an HKSAR Deputy of the 11th of National People's Congress of the PRC. Ms. Lau is also serving the Hong Kong Logistics Development Council (and is the Shepherd of the S-Logistics Project Group), the Hong Kong Port Development Council, (and is the Convener of the Port Development Advisory Group), the Hong Kong Maritime Industry Council, the Council of Hong Kong Baptist University, and the International Centre for Maritime Studies of Hong Kong Polytechnic University as the chairwoman or member.
Ms. Lau graduated from the University of Hong Kong with a B.A. (Hons) Degree in English and was admitted as a solicitor in Hong Kong and England, and a barrister and solicitor in Victoria, Australia. She is also the holder of a Diploma in Chinese Law from the University of East Asia.
