Lucy Lu specialises in labour and employment, compliance, foreign investment, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate matters. 

Ms. Lu has assisted many corporations in establishing a compliance system to improve related compliance and internal control policies. She has also helped clients to conduct internal compliance investigations and advised them on business crisis. Further, Ms. Lu has extensive experience in labour matters, especially in difficult and complicated labour disputes. She also advises on equity incentives, senior management cases, labour compliance review, employment transfer and layoff projects.

Ms. Lu has represented many domestic and foreign enterprises in their investments in China, and many multinational and medium-sized foreign enterprises in a number of investment, restructuring and M&A projects. Her services cover due diligence, project structuring, document drafting, review and preparation, negotiations, issuing legal opinions, and communicating with relevant government authorities on behalf of clients.

Ms. Lu has represented investors or banks in their non-performing assets disposal projects, in which she played an important role in due diligence review, document preparation and negotiations.

Ms. Lu has been ranked as a Leading Individual in labour law by Chambers Asia Pacific for years. In 2017-2018 and 2020-2023, she was named a Leading Lawyer in the field of Labour Law by The Legal 500.  She was recognized as one of the Leading Individuals by Asialaw Profiles in its 2016 Asia Pacific rankings. In 2016, Ms. Lu was commended as In-House Community External Counsel of the Year by In-House Community, based on the votes and recommendations of hundreds of in-house counsels. Ms. Lu has been listed among the top lawyers in Labour, Employment & Benefits by Who's Who Legal, a well-known legal research institution, for several years.

Work experience

Ms. Lucy Lu joined King & Wood Mallesons in 2001. Before joining our firm, she worked with Suzhou Gucheng Law Firm.

She obtained her LL.B. from the Law School of Nanjing University, and her LL.M. from the University of London. She was admitted as a Chinese lawyer in 1994. Ms. Lu is proficient in Chinese and English.
