Ms. Ling Huang specializes in cross-border M&A, private equity and foreign direct investment transactions.
Ms. Huang has extensive experience in cross-border mergers and acquisitions and private equity transactions. Ms. Huang has represented Chinese financial groups, listed companies, privately-owned companies and private equity firms in their investments, acquisitions and joint venture transactions globally. Her representative transactions include: representation of a well-known high-tech company in a number of its cross-border acquisitions and joint ventures; representation of China Mobile in its overseas acquisitions; representation of a Chinese financial institution in its acquisition of an asset management company in the U.S.; representation of a Chinese insurance group in its acquisition of a commercial bank in China; representation of multinational private equity firms, such as Bain Capital and TPG, in its various investment and M&A transactions involving assets in China, including acquisition of U.S. public companies. In addition, Ms. Huang has been involved in a number of "going-private" transactions of China-based, U.S.-listed companies, including Synutra, eFuture Information Technology, Global-Tech Advanced Innovations, China Nepstar, China Cord Blood Corporation, WuXi PharmaTech, iSoftStone, Pactera Technology, Simcere Pharmaceutical, Yucheng Technologies, China TransInfo Technology, Trunkbow International, Syswin, 3SBio, China Shengda Packaging, Focus Media, Yongye International, Shanda Interactive Entertainment, China Fire & Security, Puda Coal and AsiaInfo-Linkage.
Ms. Huang also has represented numerous multination companies and private equity firms in acquisitions, foreign direct investments and joint venture transactions in China. Her representative transactions include: representation of Whirlpool in its disposition of certain shares in Whirlpool (China), a company listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange; representation of Unifrax in its acquisition of a 29% stake in Shandong Luyang, a Shenzhen Stock Exchange listed company; representation of Whirlpool in its $552 million acquisition of a 51% stake in Hefei Rongshida Sanyo Electric, a Shanghai Stock Exchange listed company; and representation of private equity firms in their investments in China.
Ms. Huang's experience covers a wide variety of industries, including aviation, Energy, financial services, insurance, leisure and entertainment, media, pharmaceuticals, technology and communications.
Ms. Huang has been recognized as leading lawyer by the following organizations: Chambers Asia-Pacific , Leading Corporate/M&A and Private Equity Lawyer for China (International Firms) 2018; IFLR1000, Leading Lawyer for M&A and Private Equity: China 2018.
Work Experience
Ling Huang joined King & Wood in 2018. Prior to that, she was a partner at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP.
Ms. Huang graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law with an LL.M. degree, and received her bachelor's degree from Peking University School of Law.
Ms. Huang is qualified to practice in the New York State.
