Mr. Guo Yu specialises in patent-related legal matters, including patent drafting, reexamination and invalidation proceedings, patent administrative and infringement proceedings, patent linkage proceedings, patent due diligence, administrative investigations and punishment related to patent infringement, patent stability and infringement risk analysis, as well as patent licensing and assignment. He is particularly skilled at handling patent disputes in the fields of pharmaceuticals, biology, pesticides, materials, and chemicals.
With extensive experience in patent invalidation and litigation, Mr. Guo has successfully represented many well-known multinationals in patent invalidation proceedings, administrative litigation, patent linkage litigation and infringement litigation. His track record includes many cases featured in the List of 50 Typical Cases on the Judicial Protection of Intellectual Property Rights in Chinese Courts, the Annual Report of the Supreme People’s Court on Intellectual Property Cases and the Top 10 Typical Invalid Cases upon Review.
In January 2020, Mr. Guo was appointed as an expert to the Beijing Municipal Intellectual Property Expert Panel.
Work experience
Mr. Guo joined King & Wood Mallesons (KWM) in 2019. Before joining KWM, he worked at China Patent Agent (H.K.) Ltd. for nearly 20 years.
Mr. Guo received his Bachelor’s degree from Shenyang Pharmaceutical University and Master’s degree in intellectual property from Tokyo University of Science.
His working languages are Chinese, English and Japanese.
