Gui Hongxia specialises in litigation, arbitration and intellectual property transactions. Her major clients include multinational corporations, large state-owned enterprises, and private enterprises.

Ms. Gui has over 20 years of practice experience in dispute resolution, with a special focus on IP litigation, investment and financing disputes and other complex business litigation and arbitration matters. Ms. Gui has litigated various types of cases including infringement of copyright, trade secret, patent, trademark, and unfair competition. In terms of copyright cases, she puts emphasis on disputes over software copyright infringement and online game intellectual property. In investment and financing, Ms. Gui has dealt with a variety of disputes involving investors, actual controllers, and/or executives, such as disputes over equity and ownership, company control, derivative actions, major breach of investment agreements, and liabilities of executives. The Tales of Swordsman (武侠Q传) case she handled was selected to the 2019 Top 10 IP Cases by the Supreme People’s Court.

Ms. Gui has extensive experience in IP transactions, She has represented clients in dozens of major IP transactions, covering licensing and transfer of knowhow, patented technology, software copyright and trademark rights, as well as IP-driven investments.

Work experience

Ms. Gui joined King & Wood Mallesons in 2001.

She obtained her LL.B. from Nanchang University and LL.M. from the University of International Business and Economics. Her second LL.M. was received from Berkeley Law at the University of California. Ms. Gui was admitted as a PRC lawyer in 2001.

Ms. Gui's working languages are Chinese and English.

Ms. Gui is a member of the Trade Secret Protection Committee of the China International Association for Promotion of Science and Technology.
