Alex Zhang specializes in intellectual property and technology laws.
Mr. Zhang has substantial experience in intellectual property counseling, intellectual property procurement and portfolio management, intellectual property asset development, technology licensing, dispute resolutions and other matters related to intellectual property rights. His services also include intellectual property strategy counseling for foreign and domestic companies seeking market entry/expansion in China.
Mr. Zhang experience encompasses a wide range of industries, including electrical engineering, computer science, telecommunications, semiconductors, medical devices and others.
Work experience
Mr. Zhang joined King & Wood Mallesons in 2001. Prior to this, he was a patent attorney at the Patent & Trademark Law Office of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade for seven years. He received professional training in China, the United States and Europe. Before starting his legal career, he was a member of the technical staff for two years at a research lab.
He speaks extensively at international conferences and seminars regarding Chinese intellectual property laws and practices, hosted by Stanford University, Practicing Law Institute, California State Bar Association, Boston Intellectual Property Law Association, Silicon Valley Intellectual Property Law Association, Los Angeles Intellectual Property Law Association and others.
Mr. Zhang received a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Hangzhou Institute of Electrical Engineering, a M.S. degree in Computer Science from Beijing Technology and Business University, and a LL.M. degree specializing in intellectual property laws from Santa Clara University School of Law. He was also a visiting scholar at Stanford Law School for one year.
Mr. Zhang is proficient in English and Chinese.
