Rachel specialises in the construction, infrastructure, energy and resources sectors, with experience managing and resolving complex claims and disputes arising out of major building, infrastructure, energy and resources projects in Australia and surrounding jurisdictions. Rachel has acted for and against major principals, contractors and government participants in claims for variations, defects and delays, as well as general commercial disputes.
Rachel adopts a pragmatic, solutions-oriented approach to challenging projects, and excels at providing timely, strategic advice at all stages of the project lifecycle. Rachel has represented clients in State and Federal Courts, domestic arbitrations and in adjudication proceedings, as well ADR processes such as expert determinations and dispute resolution boards.
Rachel’s recent experience includes the following:
- Acting for a Tier 1 Contractor in respect of claims arising out the $1 billion Transmission Gully PPP project
- Acting for a Road Operator in respect of claims against JV contractor arising out of $1.8 billion road upgrade project, including Queensland Supreme Court proceedings
- Acting for the Design and Construction JV in ADR processes for claims arising out of a $1.6 billion road infrastructure project in Queensland
- Acting for a major Oil and Gas Supplier as defendant and counter-claimant in proceedings commenced by contractor for claims arising out of gas plant upgrade project
- Acting for the Construction JV in domestic arbitration against consultant for defective design work arising out of major road upgrade project, including complex rectification and prolongation cost claims
- Acting for a major property developer with respect to the use of combustible cladding products on assets designed and constructed in various locations across Australia
- Completing a secondment at a global Oil and Gas Producer as a specialist litigation and disputes advisor
