Mr. Ching-Wo Ng is a Partner with King & Wood Mallesons specializing in the areas of cross-border, transactional, and commercial work and wealth planning for private clients. He holds considerable experience in matters such as M&As, takeovers and restructuring IPOs, large-scale international joint ventures, technology transfers, succession planning, family trust and international tax planning.

Corporate, M&A and Commercial Work

Mr. Ng is well-known for his work on foreign investments in the People's Republic of China and overseas M&A transactions and has represented a number of multinational and local firms in a large variety of projects ranging from light industry, retail, pharmaceuticals, and infrastructure to heavy industry. For outbound investment, Mr. Ng has represented a number of Hong Kong and PRC entities with regard to their overseas investments. He has acted for and assisted many PRC enterprises in their listings in Hong Kong and overseas. Mr. Ng regularly sits on the boards of publicly-listed companies as an independent non-executive director or non-executive director.

Family Trust and Wealth Planning

Mr. Ng is one of the first lawyers in Hong Kong to provide legal advice to Chinese high net worth clients in relation to large overseas family trusts and wealth management. Mr. Ng has over 30 years of valuable experience in this field.

Mr. Ng has represented a number of well-known Asian families and their enterprises with regard to setting up overseas trusts, global companies and family trusts restructuring, family business succession and governance, asset preservation and etc. Mr. Ng is a perennial legal counsel of several family offices.

Work Experience

Mr. Ng was a founding partner at Arculli Fong & Ng prior to its merger with King & Wood Mallesons and before that was a partner at a well-recognized Canada-based multinational law firm.

He served as a member of various committees of the Law Society of Hong Kong at various periods over the last 25 years, and also served as a member of Solicitors' Disciplinary Tribunal in the past.

Mr. Ng received a B.S. degree with Honors in 1973, a Masters Degree in Theoretical Physics in 1976, and an LL.B degree in 1980 from the University of Alberta. Mr. Ng was admitted to practice as a barrister and solicitor in Alberta, Canada in 1981 and qualified as a solicitor in the United Kingdom and Hong Kong in 1986 and 1987, respectively. He is proficient in English, Mandarin, Cantonese and Fujianese.
