King & Wood Mallesons (KWM) has advised Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Limited (ANZ) on the financing to support the business needs of HanGook McDonald’s Co. Ltd., following the acquisition of the Development License to operate the McDonald’s chain of restaurants in South Korea from McDonald’s Corporation.
The transaction marks a significant milestone, strengthening McDonald’s market presence in South Korea.
A multi-jurisdictional KWM team provided comprehensive legal support throughout the financing. The team is led by Singapore Partner Gary Hamp and Hong Kong Counsel Rick Wei, with support from Senior Associate Shenn Tan, and Associate Sarah Ng, both in Singapore. Our KWM team in Australia, led by Partner Max Allan and Special Counsel Claire Warren, with support from Solicitor Jazz Osvald, assisted in the complex derivatives aspects of the transaction.
Commenting on the transaction, Gary Hamp said: “It has been our privilege to work with ANZ on this landmark financing. We are proud of KWM’s ability to advise seamlessly from a number of our offices across the region and to give the advice needed in multiple specialist areas to enable the successful completion of the transaction on a challenging timetable. We thank ANZ for the opportunity to have supported them on such an important transaction.”
