Josh advises corporates, funds and financial institutions on transactions across the spectrum of energy, sustainability and infrastructure projects. Josh’s practice spans the entire project life-cycle – mergers and acquisitions, financing, development, concession agreements, offtake arrangements and operational arrangements. Josh has a specialised focus on novel and complex energy projects, covering electricity, gas, waste, infrastructure and sustainability projects.

Josh’s expertise includes:

  • Vector: on the sale of 50% of its New Zealand and Australian smart metering business (Vector Metering) to Queensland Investment Corporation (QIC) for $1.74b
  • Brookfield: $1b acquisition of an interest in Intellihub from PEP and Landis+Gyr
  • QIC: on the establishment and seeding of the Powering Australia Renewables Fund, and on the development and acquisition of wind and solar assets
  • DIF: on their investment in the Synergy Renewables Fund, and its subsequent acquisitions of the Warradage Wind Farm, Albany Grasmere Wind Farm and Greenough River Solar Farm
  • Templers BESS: advising Zen Energy on the development of the Templers BESS in SA
  • Various clients: acting for various retailers, energy developers and corporations on the connection, offtake and tolling arrangements for their projects, including on wind farms, solar farms and batteries
  • Victorian Big Battery: acting for the CEFC on the financing of the 300MW battery in VIC, including reviewing the connection arrangements
  • Igneo: (formally First Sentier Investors) on the establishment, financing and seeding of the CPERI fund to invest in C&I solar, BESS and embedded networks
  • Energy Security Board: advised on the National Energy Guarantee
  • Palisade: advised on the acquisition and financing of the Granville Harbour Wind Farm an providing ongoing advice to Palisade on its development and construction of the wind farm
  • UBS: sale of its 50% interest in the operational Collgar wind farm in WA to Rest
  • Offshore Wind: acting on a confidential role in respect of the Star of the South offshore wind farm and for Corio Generation on the development of its Great Eastern Offshore Wind project in Gippsland
  • Waste: for Igneo Capital Partners on its investment in IWS and subsequent acquisitions of Recycle Central Group and acquisition of Eco Resources group.
