Areas of Practice
Mr. Felix Fong has acted as a legal counsel in many mainland China projects involving direct investment funds, pharmaceuticals, technology transfers, airport terminals, power generation, textiles, mining, bank licensing and regulatory matters and intellectual property rights protection. He is highly experienced in foreign investments in the PRC.
In 1992, Mr. Fong was appointed as one of the China-Appointed Attesting Officers in Hong Kong.
He has earned a distinguished record for community service. In 2005, Mr. Fong was appointed as a Justice of the Peace of the Government of Hong Kong in recognition of his public service. He has served at various times on the Town Planning Board, Liquor Licensing Board, Betting and Lotteries Commission, Broadcasting Authority, Film Development Council and Advisory Council on Food and Environmental Hygiene as a member and a chairman. He is a member of the Guangdong Provincial Committee of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and the director of China Overseas Friendship Association.
Mr. Fong was a founder of the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong (DAB) and has been a member of the Standing and Central Committees of the DAB.
Work Experience
Mr. Fong was a founding partner of Arculli Fong & Ng prior to its merger with King & Wood.
He has practiced law for close to 30 years, eight of which were spent in Toronto. He articled at a major international law firm in Toronto and in 1986 became a partner in a pre-eminent Canadian law firm recognized for its work in banking and finance. Mr. Fong gained an engineering degree in Canada where he was a first-class honors student and was awarded the Dean's Honor upon graduation. He also received a law degree at Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto in 1978. In addition, he qualified to practice as a solicitor in England and Wales in 1986 and was admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Hong Kong in 1987.
He is proficient in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese.
