The London Corporate & Securities team of King & Wood Mallesons led by partner Greg Stonefield and senior associate Jack Tsang has advised Hampton Group in connection with the English law governed agreements relating to the development and operation of Gordonstoun Schools in China. Based in Beijing and London, Hampton Group has played a significant role in UK-China business relations for over a decade.

Founded in 1934, Gordonstoun is a leading independent boarding school in Moray, Scotland. The school's unique educational ethos, values and character education has attracted and nurtured many students, including members of the British royalty - the Duke of Edinburgh, the Prince of Wales and the Duke of York are all alumni of Gordonstoun.

This relationship between the Hampton Group and Gordonstoun School represents another key milestone for Chinese-British collaboration in the education sector.
The King & Wood Mallesons' education team is currently advising on a number of other similar transactions, acting for both Chinese investors and British institutions. In addition, with recent growing interest from Chinese investors in UK educational assets (including in relation to K-12 schools, ED Tech and vocational and specialist schools), the London team is actively engaged on a number of large-scale school acquisitions.
