King & Wood Mallesons has advised Stanbic Bank Uganda Limited and SBG Securities Limited in connection with the private placement by Umeme Holdings Limited of its 14.3 % stake in the Ugandan power company Umeme Limited. Umeme Holdings Limited is a subsidiary of the leading private equity fund, Actis Infrastructure 2 LP ("Actis").

Umeme Limited's shares are listed and traded on the Uganda Stock Exchange and the Nairobi Stock Exchange. Actis had previously sold off a 45.1 per cent stake in the power firm in June 2014, scaling down from 60 per cent. upon which Greg Stonefield (an Africa recommended specialist) had acted.

The team was led by London corporate and securities partner Greg Stonefield, assisted by associate Aditi Venkat and others.

Greg Stonefield said "I am delighted that we continue to be active advising our longstanding clients such as Standard Bank on corporate and capital markets transactions across EMEA, and particularly in Africa. We remain part of a global corporate and securities practice and have a strategic focus on key jurisdictions across Africa which we intend to continue to further grow by working with key clients active on the continent."
