King and Wood Mallesons (KWM) is pleased to have advised the Exemplar Health consortium (comprising Capella Capital, Lendlease, Honeywell, Compass Group and Invesis) on the New Melton Hospital PPP Project (NMH), which recently achieved financial close.
The Exemplar Health consortium was shortlisted by the Victorian Government in June 2023 and submitted its detailed proposal in December 2023.
When completed, the NMH will deliver a critical uplift in the capacity of public health services in Melton, where demand for services is expected to more than double over the next 20 years. The hospital will include a 24 hour emergency department, at least 274 beds, an intensive care unit, maternity and neonatal services, mental health services, radiology services and outpatient care.
The KWM team was led by Partners Jo Crew and Catherine Danne with support from Special Counsel Joanna Taylor, Senior Associate Emma Reed, and Solicitors Daniel Ho, Jonathan Le, Louisa Thornton, Michael Gruber, Katie Nikolaou, Lucy Newlinds, James Langford and Emily Powell.
Commenting on the deal, Jo Crew said:
“The New Melton Hospital will provide essential health infrastructure to the rapidly growing community in Melbourne’s west. We are very proud to have worked with Capella Capital and the other Exemplar Health consortium members to see this project through to Financial Close.”
Catherine Danne said:
"It has been a pleasure to support the Exemplar Health consortium on this important health infrastructure project.”
The NMH is expected to be completed in 2029.
