King and Wood Mallesons (KWM) has advised Igneo Infrastructure Partners (Igneo) - through its Australian waste and resource recovery investment platform, Integrated Waste Services (IWS) - on two IWS investments in NSW and WA.

Recycle Central Group (RCG) is located circa 150km from Sydney and actively engages in the waste value chain, predominantly processes and recovers Construction and Demolition and Commercial and Industrial waste.

Eco Resources Group (ECO) is a waste to resources business located in WA – with two key locations in Kwinana and Waroona. ECO is one of the leading waste management companies in the Perth-Peel region and is actively expanding its capability to process organic waste to position itself for the emerging food and garden organics market.

KWM’s role in the transactions includes advising Igneo to enter into a binding agreement to invest in the RCG and to enter into a binding agreement to acquire ECO.

The KWM team was led by Partner Roderick Smythe and Senior Associate Josh Thorneycroft with support from Senior Associate Angus Morris, Associate Sebastian Steenkamp, Solicitor Morgan Clune and Solicitor Patrick Przybylski.

Commenting on the deal, Senior Associate Josh Thorneycroft said:

“We’re delighted to have assisted Igneo expand its IWS business into the New South Wales and Western Australian markets, helping further develop a sustainable and innovative waste platform.”

Financial close for RCG is expected in Q2 2024, and financial close for ECO is anticipated in Q3 2024.
