Gonzalo Fernández Contreras, Senior Associate at King & Wood Mallesons ("KWM"), and a lawyer with more than 10 years of experience, has been awarded Lawyer of the Year M&A in the Iberian Lawyer Forty under 40 Awards. This recognition highlights Gonzalo's professional career over the last few years and, especially, his essential role in some of the most important M&A transactions of the Spanish market in 2020 – 2021.
Since joining KWM in 2015, Gonzalo Fernández has become a key lawyer of the Corporate team and has been involved in some of the Firm's most important deals, especially within the energy and private equity sectors. During 2020, Gonzalo participated in the advice to EDP Group on the €2.7 billion acquisition of Viesgo from Macquarie and on the advice to Galp on the €2.5 billion purchase of a PV solar portfolio from ACS.
In relation to the private equity sector, Gonzalo was one of the lawyers advising Capza on the acquisition of IMF Business School and on its divestment of the digital certificate company Ivnosys.
Previously, Iberian Lawyer had already highlighted the trajectory of Gonzalo Fernández by including him in its ranking Top Iberian Lawyers Rising Stars 2020.
