King & Wood Mallesons advises Finerge on its entry into the renewables market in Spain

The M&A team of King & Wood Mallesons (KWM) in Madrid has advised the Portuguese energy company Finerge S.A. (Finerge) on the acquisition of six photovoltaic solar plants from Martifer Group for a total amount of 23.5 million euros.

The deal enables the  entry of Finerge into the Spanish market of the renewable energy.

The assets have a total capacity of 8.1 MWp and are located in Huelva, Seville and Salamanca.

The multidisciplinary team of lawyers who participated in the transaction has been led by Roberto Pomares and Victoria Ruenes, both from the M&A practice, and had the support of various practice areas of the firm.

With this acquisition, Finerge now has a total installed capacity of 1,049 MW in renewable energy (solar and wind) in Iberia.

Roberto Pomares notes that "the purchase of these solar plants by Finerge is another example of the strong reactivation of the foreign investment in the renewable energy sector in Spain. Additionally, it proves the strength of the KWM team in advising on such transactions, having advised during this year the three main Portuguese renewable operators: EDP Renováveis, Novenergia and Finerge."
