Carlos Gil, awarded Lawyer of the Year – Sports Law in the Iberian Lawyer Labour Awards 2021

Carlos Gil, partner and head of Employment Law at King & Wood Mallesons in Madrid, has been awarded, for second year in a row, Lawyer of the Year – Sports Law in the Iberian Lawyer Labour Awards.

Lawyer with more than twenty years of experience, Carlos' expertise includes both contentious and non-contentious aspects of employment and social security law including: corporate transactions; company benefit and remuneration plans; top executives’ employment relationships; termination arrangements; restrictive covenants. Carlos provides general strategic advice on all types of HR matters and has broad experience in employment litigation.

During his professional career Carlos has advised, among others, Meriton Holdings, EDP Group, Indigo, Sonae, Globalvía, Page Group, Inapa Distribución de Papel, Grupo Nicolás Correa, VISA Europe, Aurelius Group, Portobello Capital, Magnum Capital, Miura Private Equity and Associated British Food.

In the area of Sports Law, for over 5 years Carlos and his team has been advising Valencia Club de Fútbol on all the employment matters related with the Club and its Foundation, including the labour and social security aspects related to its sport team (football players of different categories and technical team).
