Masterwork Group acquires stake in Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG

King & Wood Mallesons (KWM) has advised Masterwork Group Co., Ltd. (Masterwork) in connection with the acquisition of a stake in Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (HDM).

HDM is the global leader for products, services and solutions for the world-wide printing industry and listed in the German S-Dax. Masterwork, itself listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange, is a high technology manufacturer of post press packaging equipment. The transaction was implemented by way of a capital increase by HDM in which HDM issued 25,743,777 new shares. Masterwork, via a subsidiary, acquired all of the newly created shares, resulting in a stake of approximately 8.5 % in HDM. Pursuant to public sources, Masterwork has thus become the largest shareholder of HDM.

The acquisition of this stake in HDM by Masterwork strengthens the existing commercial co-operation between the two companies, allowing them to jointly realize the growth potential in the global package printing market, which is expected to be above-average in the next couple of years.
