King & Wood Mallesons (KWM) has advised the shareholders of Motec GmbH (Motec), a leading provider of intelligent camera system solutions for commercial vehicles and mobile machines, on the sale of all shares to the listed US company AMETEK, Inc. (AMETEK), a leading provider of electronic measuring instruments and electromechanical devices.
Motec, an owner-managed German company based in Hadamar-Steinbach, specializes in the developing and manufacturing of tailor-made, robust sensors and software for camera-based driver assistance systems. Over the past 25 years, the company has developed from a camera manufacturer to a systems provider, offering intelligent solutions for improved operational efficiency and enhanced safety in a variety of critical mobile machine applications in construction, transportation, agriculture and logistics. The annual turnover of the company is approx. 30 million euros.
AMETEK is a leading global manufacturer of electronic instruments and electromechanical devices listed in the S&P 500 Index on the New York Stock Exchange with annualized sales of more than USD 4.8 billion. The company employs around 17,000 people at more than 150 locations in 30 countries.
Motec joins AMETEK as part of AMETEK’s Electronic Instruments Group, a provider of advanced analytical, monitoring, testing, calibrating and display instruments with annual sales of USD 2.9 billion.
