Zhou Rui


Areas of practice

Ms. Zhou Rui’s main areas of focus include securities, mergers and acquisitions and funds.

She has extensive experience in domestic and international securities offerings, restructuring in M&A, private equity and venture capital, organizational investments, foreign direct investments, the establishment operation and entrustment of sino-foreign equity funds, and corporate governance. Her clients have included companies in the high-tech, internet, new media, cultural / education, franchise, intensive agriculture, new energy, finance, pharmaceuticals, retail and real estate industries.

Ms. Zhou has managed and participated in dozens of domestic and international listings, restructurings and M&A, issuances, allotments, bond issuances, investment and financing capital projects. She has also acted as an independent director and corporate counsel to many domestic and multinational companies.

Work experience

Zhou Rui joined King & Wood Mallesons in 2009, prior to which she worked at several firms as an associate and a senior partner. She is currently the Deputy Director of the Shenzhen Office of the China Mergers & Acquisitions Association and has been selected as an expert by the Shenzhen SMEs Restructuring and Listings Expert Services Group. She is also the first Chinese lawyer to receive the International Corporate Governance Trainer Certificate awarded jointly be the World Bank, the Shanghai Stock Exchange and the Shenzhen Stock Exchange.

Ms. Zhou graduated from Sun Yat-sen University and from the University of Wisconsin-Madison Law School with an LL.B. and LL.M. respectively. She qualified as a PRC lawyer in 1999.

Her working languages are Chinese and English.
