Areas of Practice 

Ms. Zhang specializes in PRC tax and business advisory services, as well as tax dispute resolution.

Ms. Zhang has more than 10-year professional experiences in providing tax and the related legal services, rendering a one-stop “tax + legal + commercial", problem-solving oriented services to the clients. Ms. Zhang’s practice focuses on the tax planning and dispute resolution. 

In terms of the tax planning and advisory services, Ms. Zhang’s expertise covers a wide range of business transactions including M&As, group restructurings, tax due diligence, domestic and offshore capitalizations and de-listings, outbound investments, trust and financial derivatives, filming and entertainment projects, tax incentive applications, general corporate tax consulting and structuring for related-party arrangements, supply chain and e-commerce. Ms. Zhang’s client base are mainly in the fintech, TMT, automobile, pharmaceutical, filming and entertainment, private equity, real estate industry, etc. 

On the tax dispute resolution, Ms. Zhang has solid experiences in representing the clients on various tax audit defense, administrative appeal, tax anti-avoidance and transfer pricing audit, as well as tax-related arbitration case, and has achieved successful outcome for the clients, gaining their trust and credits. 

In recent years, Ms. Zhang delves into new tax areas arising from the emerging business models and the enhancing tax anti-avoidance climate worldwide. Ms. Zhang has been working with the government agencies and industrial associations on the FATCA/CRS initiatives. Ms. Zhang also provides tax planning services for the high-net-worth individuals in relation to the family asset planning, offshore investment and immigration, and the setup of trust schemes. 

Work Experience

Ms. Zhang joined King & Wood Mallesons in 2008. Prior to joining King & Wood Mallesons, she worked in New York at a local boutique law firm. 

Ms. Zhang graduated from University of International Business and Economics as an undergraduate and then obtained her master degree in University of Washington, specializing in the international taxation law. 

Ms. Zhang is a licensed PRC and U.S. (New York State) lawyer. 

She is a native Mandarin speaker and fluent in English.
