Mr. Song Xinyue specializes in intellectual property litigation involving patents, trade secrets, technology-related anti-trust, trademarks, copyright, and unfair competition.
Mr. Song has ample experience in patent litigation and patent invalidation disputes, especially in the sectors of pharmaceuticals, chemical engineering and materials. With a solid technical background and rich trial experience, Mr. Song has represented many well-known domestic and multi-national enterprises in major cases, some of which have been selected by the Supreme People’s Court as annual guiding IP cases. Among which, Mr. Song acted for the plaintiff, Statens Serum Institute in a patent infringement dispute. The case was conducive to improving appearance of experts in court, the expert assessor system and reasonable use of expert opinion in resolving difficulties in hearing of patent cases, and was selected among the “2016 Top 10 IP Cases in Guangdong”.
Mr. Song also advises clients on IP transactions, licensing, due diligence and commercial strategies.
Mr. Song Xinyue joined King & Wood Mallesons (“KWM”) in 2010. Prior to that, he worked as a patent attorney at a law firm for more than five years.
Mr. Song received his Bachelor’s Degree and Doctor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from Tsinghua University. He obtained his LL.M. degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 2015.
Mr. Song was admitted as a patent attorney in 2006 and as an attorney-at-law in 2008.
Mr. Song is fluent in both Chinese and English.
