Mr. Shi has extensive experience in representing clients in their IP matters in China. With nearly 30 years of experience in civil litigation, Mr. Shi has been an advocate before Chinese courts in cases covering virtually all types of intellectual property rights. His cases have included not only civil actions for infringement of intellectual properties rights, but also administrative lawsuits over the grant, invalidation, or cancellation of patent or trademark rights. His clients are from a diverse range of industries, including medical technology/pharmaceutical, chemical, automotive, electronics, semiconductor, telecommunications, hospitality, publishing, software, information technologies, and internet-related businesses. 

Mr. Shi has been regularly ranked as one of the leading lawyers in dispute resolution in China by such respected guides to the legal community as World's Leading Lawyers for Business, published by Asia Law & Practice, and Chambers & Partners, where he has been recognized as a "leading lawyer" in the IP area. In 2018, Mr. Shi has been ranked as one of "The World's Leading Trademark Professionals" in China for Trademark Enforcement and Litigation in the World Trademark Review 1000 ("WTR 1000") rankings, along with the added comments that he "excel[s] on complex contentious briefs". He has also been listed as a “recommended lawyer” for 2018 in both the patent and trademark areas by the World Intellectual Property Review. In 2017, Mr. Shi was named as a recommended lawyer in the Asia-Pacific region by Legal 500 and, was also deemed an “IP star” for both patent- and trademark-related matters by Managing Intellectual Property. In 2016, based on the votes and recommendations of hundreds of in-house counsel, Mr. Shi was recognized as “In-House Community External Counsel of the Year” by leading Asian legal publication In-House Community. Mr. Shi was also deemed to be a legal expert in patents by Who's Who Legal, a legal research publication.

Work experience

Mr. Shi joined King & Wood Mallesons in 1995. Prior to joining King & Wood Mallesons, he worked at the Foreign Economic Law Office of Jilin Province and, also, at W. K. To & Co. in Hong Kong.

Mr. Shi obtained his LL.B. from the China University of Political Science and Law in 1987, and was admitted to practice law in China in 1991.
