Areas of practice

Mr. George Gao specializes in private equity (PE), overseas IPO, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), foreign direct investment (FDI), outbound investments and banking finance.

In the area of private equity and M&A Mr. Gao has advised many domestic and foreign clients on due diligence, transaction structure design, document drafting, negotiations, and legal consultation in such industries as energy/resources, securities, banking, software, real estate, retail, and manufacturing.

In the field of overseas listing, Mr. Gao has also represented large number of energy/resources and mining companies in pre-IPO restructuring and finance, overseas listing thorough or partial Chinese domestic interests as well as repatriation of funds raised after listing. In the area of FDI and outbound investments, Mr. Gao has advised clients including Fortune 500 companies on their investment projects in Mainland China, including formation and share transferring. Mr. Gao is also familiar with China outbound investments including monitoring and coordinating legal due diligence, designing investment structure, drafting and revising transaction documents, engaging in negotiations, as well as supervising overseas counsels.

In the area of banking, Mr. Gao has assisted considerable private-owned companies in the area of banking with respect to finance, loans, financing guarantee, and cross-bound RMB balance systems. Additionally, he has also assisted enterprises with achieving asset securitization in the capital market.

Work experience

Mr. Gao joined King & Wood Mallesons in 2001.

Mr. Gao obtained his LL.B. from Peking University Law School in 2001.

Mr. Gao’s working languages are Chinese and English.
