Every year on April 26 – the day on which the WIPO Convention came into effect in 1970 – World Intellectual Property Day is celebrated to increase a general understanding of IP and raise awareness of how it influences our daily lives.
This year’s theme is ‘Digital Creativity: Culture Reimagined’, providing a unique perspective on contributions made by creators and innovators across the cultural spectrum, from music to art, and video games to technology. It aims to explore how these contributions have shaped the world and how it will continue to do so in the future. While digital technology has allowed easier access to international markets, it has come with challenges eg copyright protection, IP protection and maximising value in the digital age.
