King & Wood Mallesons’ (KWM) Community Impact group has been awarded Best Overall Program at the prestigious 2019 Workplace Giving Excellence Awards, in addition to the Silver award for Best Pro Bono/Volunteering program. The awards celebrate exceptional workplace giving, volunteering and pro bono programs across Australia and were hosted by Hoyts in Sydney on Tuesday evening (11 November 2019).
KWM recognises the huge impact workplace giving can have on the communities in which we live and work and our Community Impact program imbeds a holistic, strategic and long term approach to giving back in our workplace culture. Our workplace giving brand, DigDeep® was piloted in 2001 and since then has raised more than $12,115,000, with 48 per cent of our people participating in the program each month.
Recognising the importance of leading by example, KWM’s leadership team has endorsed a stretch target of 75 per cent staff participation in DigDeep® by 2020. Our pro bono participation rate has already reached this exceptional level, resulting in 32,500 pro bono hours being worked by our people last financial year. These efforts are all in aid of KWM Community Impact’s vision of reducing inequality and poverty, particularly among children and young people.
Our firm’s Chief Executive Partner, Berkeley Cox, was there on the night to accept the award on behalf of the firm and the KWM Community Impact team, which is led by Dan Creasey.
Commenting on this milestone achievement, Dan said: “Being recognised with this award is a tremendous achievement for our program. It is wonderful to see so many leading organisations championing it day to day.”
The Workplace Giving Excellence awards are part of the One Million Donors campaign which has the mission to see one million Australians donating to charity direct from their pay.
