Ms. Cissy (Xiaoli) Zhou works as an attorney-at-law and trademark attorney in Shanghai office. She specializes in trademarks, domain names, copyright and unfair competition matters, advising on trademark availability, establishing and enforcing IP rights, filing opposition and cancellation/invalidation proceedings, negotiating for the acquisition of trademarks and licensing, and dealing with domain name dispute resolutions. Her practice covers a wide range of issues relating to trademarks, trade dress, designs and copyright. Currently focusing exclusively on brand clearance, protection and registry , enforcement before the Chinese trademarks authorities and administrative courts. Providing high level strategic advice on IP strategy, trademarks portfolio management, inbound and outbound, including issues relating to registering non-traditional trademarks, obtaining well-known trademarks recognition, and combating bad faith trademarks applications. Ms. Zhou used to work for a leading US Garments Company, a multinational consumer brand from Germany, a German manufacturer of rolling element bearings, a leading US data infrastructure provider, and many other multinational brands from varied industries including technology, consumer products, electronics, machinery, pharmaceuticals, food and beverage, travel and leisure, entertainment and fashion.
Work Experience
Ms. Zhou joined King and Wood in 2019. Before joining KWM, Ms. Zhou worked as a General Counsel for a Norwegian luxury Children products' brand for almost 4 years. She also worked as an IP attorney in a top US firm and a leading UK IP boutique firm for more than 10 years. She was qualified as a PRC attorney.
Ms. Zhou graduated from East China Universtiy of Political Science and Law with an LL.B degree in 2004 and further obtained an LL.M degree from University of Durham in 2006. She was qualified to PRC Bar Exam in 2008.
Ms Zhou's working languages are Mandarin and English.
