Crystal Zhao specializes in foreign direct investment, cross-border M& A, private equity investment, the establishment and restructuring of financial institutions, domestic and overseas listings and listed company refinancing.
Crystal is active in representing financial institutions in their establishment, M&A and restructuring, IPO, as well as other daily matters. Her clients have included companies in banking, securities, trust, futures, funds, financial leasing and wealth management.
Crystal has extensive experience in cross-border and private equity investment projects. She has led a large number of market-leading transactions and represented numerous listed and non-listed companies and private equity funds in both inbound and outbound investments. Her experience covers a wide range of industries including real estate, property management, energy and resources, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, education, hi-tech, environmental protection and consumer goods, etc.
Crystal has also been involved in many prominent IPO and refinancing projects. The issuers have included companies in real estate, pharmaceuticals, consumer goods, education and hi-tech, etc.
Crystal was recognized by the IFLR 1000 as “Notable Practitioner” in 2021-2023. She was also selected as one of the National Leading Lawyers in Foreign-Related legal matters.
Crystal participated in the 2010 training program for young lawyers jointly organized by the Chinese Ministry of Justice and the British Government, and spent one year training in the United Kingdom.
Crystal co-wrote the China chapter of ‘International Trade Securities Regulations’, a book published by the Oxford University Press for the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law.

Crystal received her LL.B. in law from Guangdong University of Foreign Studies and her LL.M. in international commercial law from University College London.
Crystal is fluent in Mandarin, Cantonese and English.
