Yuan Min practices in insurance, banking, and corporate matters.
Min is one of the first generation of lawyers practicing insurance law in China, with extensive experience in establishment and M&A of insurance companies, equity investment in insurance market, and relevant regulatory compliance matters. She has assisted in introducing overseas strategic investors for large domestic life and property insurance companies; advised on large multinational insurance companies obtaining insurance licenses in China by its investment in PRC insurance companies; and establishing legal presence in China by overseas reinsurance companies and insurance intermediary companies. In addition, she advises many large well-known onshore/offshore life and property insurance companies, insurance groups, reinsurance companies, and insurance intermediary companies. With profound experience in insurance fund utilization, especially in direct equity investment, she has advised large life and property insurance companies operating in China on equity investment in non-insurance sectors, covering healthcare, financial institutions, mineral energy industries, real estate, and private equity investment funds.
She also has years of experience in risk disposal for financial institutions. She led the first case involving risk disposal and liquidation & bankruptcy for a commercial bank in China. In addition, She has advised on the taking-over and asset and capital verification of an insurance group company and a life insurance company, as well as the equity restructuring and divestment of a national joint-stock commercial bank in Shandong Province. She has thus accumulated advanced practical experience in risk disposal for financial institutions.
She has been recognised for consecutive years as the “Band 1 Leading Lawyers” in insurance by Chambers & Partners, and has been named as one of the “Leading Lawyers” in insurance by asialaw Profiles.
Work experience
Ms. Yuan Min joined King & Wood Mallesons in 1996.
She obtained her diploma in English Language and Literature from Beijing International Studies University and her LL.B. from the China University of Political Science and Law. She was admitted as Chinese lawyer in 1997. Ms. Yuan is proficient in Chinese and English.
