Ms. Yi Yongmei is a Partner in the firm's Intellectual Property group with a particular focus on patent-related issues.
Her practice spans a wide range of clients and industries, including home and electrical appliances, industrial, manufacturing and chemical engineering machinery, as well as a vast range of devices and equipment used in the imaging and printing, food processing, medical instruments, tobacco packaging and processing, banking and insurance, and construction industries.
Ms. Yi has represented many well-known multinational corporations in patent invalidation proceedings, patent infringement litigations and patent administrative litigation cases. She provides advice to clients in all areas of intellectual property, specializing in design patents.
Ms. Yi's experience includes successfully acting for Honda Motor Co. in a precedent-setting patent administrative lawsuit against the Patent Re-examination Board of SIPO. She also successfully represented a client in a design patent infringement lawsuit, referred to as "China's No.1 Bus Infringement Case", which was subject to extensive scrutiny and research by the intellectual property specialists in China and Europe due to the highest damage compensation decided by the Chinese court in a design patent case.
Work Experience
Ms. Yi Yongmei joined King & Wood PRC Lawyers in 2001 and was one of the founding partners of the firm's Patent Department. She re-joined King & Wood Mallesons in 2015, having worked at CCPIT Patent & Trademark Law Office as a patent attorney for several years. Ms. Yi also worked in an intellectual property firm in Germany in 1997.
Ms. Yi Yongmei has a bachelor degree in mechanical engineering from Beijing University of Science and Technology. She began her intellectual property practice in 1993 and obtained qualifications as a Chinese patent attorney in 1994 and attorney-at-law in 1995.
