Ms. Bessie Ye specializes in intellectual property law and her practice covers IP dispute resolution, IP management, and IP protection.
Ms. Bessie Ye provides a variety of IP services to clients and is particularly experienced in handling disputes in the areas of trademark, trade secret, unfair competition, patent, copyright, and domain name. Her clients include multinational corporations, foreign enterprises, state-owned enterprises and private enterprises, covering a wide range of industries including consumer goods and retail, pharmaceutical and healthcare, chemistry and chemical engineering, TMT, industrial, manufacturing and transportation.
Ms. Ye is dedicated to rendering high-quality legal services to clients in the areas of IP litigation and enforcement. She has handled several high-profile cases which have been listed as annual top cases by the Supreme People's Court or local courts. Ms. Ye has successfully advised a famous lingerie brand in a trademark infringement and unfair competition lawsuit relating to the operation of fake brand stores, which has been named to the lists of "50 Typical IP Cases of Chinese Courts in 2015" and "Top 10 IP Judicial Protection Cases of Shanghai Courts in 2015" and published in Gazette of the Supreme People's Court. She also acted for a well-known animation company in a domain name ownership and infringement dispute which has been named to the list of "50 Typical IP Cases of Chinese Courts in 2017" by the Supreme People's Court. Several cases she handled have been selected into the list of Annual Top Ten Cases in IPR Protection (Non-Criminal) by QBPC (Quality Brands Protection Committee). Ms. Ye also has substantial practical experience in handling trade secret disputes, including successfully advising on the first preliminary injunction case in trade secret disputes in China, and assisting a client in obtaining the first preliminary injunction order issued by the Shanghai IP Court in another technical secret infringement case.
Ms. Ye also has rich experience in IP counselling and transactions. She regularly advises clients on IP related projects including IP due diligence, drafting or reviewing IP related contracts, and technology transaction negotiation.
Work experience
Ms. Bessie Ye rejoined King & Wood Mallesons in March 2018. She worked at King & Wood Mallesons from 2007 to 2013. From 2013 to 2018, she worked at Baker & McKenzie LLP Shanghai Office and then Baker & McKenzie FenXun (FTZ) Joint Operation Office.
Ms. Ye received her Bachelor's degree from East China University of Science and Technology and her Juris Master's degree from Fudan University. She was admitted as an attorney-at-law in China in 2009.
