Ms. Tian Wenjing specializes in cross-border energy and infrastructure project, PPP, cross-border investment, international engineering and engineering dispute resolution, and international technology licensing.

Ms. Tian is familiar with the FIDIC contracts and the standard procurement terms of the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank and the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), and has substantial experience in drafting engineering contracts and equipment import and export contracts.
In addition, Ms. Tian also has extensive experience in dispute resolution related to international projects and engineering. She represented Chinese companies in many contractual and project claims as well as cross-border commercial arbitrations in Latin America, Europe, Southeast Asia and the Middle East. Among others, she represented an SOE in dozens of disputes arising from its Southeast Asian crude oil pipeline project involving an aggregate value in dispute of US$350 million. She also represented an SOE in its two cross-border arbitrations before the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce. In an arbitration regarding a technology licensing agreement dispute worth US$85 million before the Swedish Stockholm Chamber of Commerce, she helped the second respondent successfully win the award that released it from liability.
Ms. Tian also advised the State Nuclear Power Technology Corporation Limited on the transaction introducing the third generation nuclear technology (AP1000) to China, and the PRC Ministry of Railway on its negotiations of the high-speed railway technology introduction project. In addition, Ms. Tian, as the principal responsible person, organized and participated in compilation of the "Guide to International Technology Transfer", a book sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce, which has been widely used by the authorities and enterprises that are engaged in the international technology trade.
Honor and awards
Ms. Tian has been recognised as one of the 2022 ALB China Top 15 Female Lawyers by Asian Legal Business (ALB), She also ranked repeatedly as "highly recommended" lawyer in the practice areas of Corporate and M&A and Dispute Resolution, and "leading" lawyer in project and engineering and energy sector by The Legal 500 Asia Pacific, one of the world's most authoritative legal directories. She was named a noted practitioner in Projects; Infrastructure by Chambers Asia Pacific Guide in 2016. In 2017 and 2019, Ms. Tian was recognized as a leading individual in the field of projects and infrastructure by Chambers Asia Pacific Guide. In addition, she was named as one of the first Top Ten "Belt and Road" Lawyers by the Legal Daily in 2018. The Hai Duong BOT Power Plant Project, on which Ms. Tian advised, won the Energy; Natural Resources Deal of the Year awarded by China Law Practice in 2016.
Work experience
Ms. Tian joined King & Wood Mallesons in 2010. Prior to that, she served for many years at a well-known central SOE which is listed as an ENR international engineering contractor, successively as Manager of Litigation and Arbitration Department, Manager of Consulting Service Section, overseas representative in Russian and Eastern European Projects, Project Manager and other roles. She has accumulated great wealth of business experience in international construction and trade and practical experience in drafting and negotiation of contract and dispute resolution.
She is proficient in Chinese, English and Russian.
