Sam is an experienced litigator with experience in complex commercial disputes across various sectors and industries, including restructuring and insolvency, banking and finance, consumer law, energy and resources, and regulatory compliance.

Sam acts for sophisticated clients in large scale disputes relating to external administrations, creditors’ rights, commercial contracts, shareholder deeds, trusts, directors’ duties, oppression, misleading or deceptive conduct, and regulatory investigations. Sam has worked in most jurisdictions in Australia, including the Supreme Courts of Western Australia, New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia, as well as the Federal Court of Australia.

Sam has been recognised for a number of years as a Leading Lawyer for Commercial Litigation & Dispute Resolution in Doyle's Guide of Leading Lawyers, and a Recommended lawyer for Restructuring & Insolvency in both Doyle's Guide of Leading Lawyers and Best Lawyers Australia.

  • Clough: Advising Deloitte in relation to the administration, sale and restructure of Clough, including proceedings in the Federal Court of Australia.
  • Forex: Advising FTI as liquidators to pursue voidable transaction claims on behalf of Forex, including proceedings in the Federal Court of Australia.
  • Wiluna Mining: Advising FTI in relation to the administration of Wiluna Mining and its subsidiaries, including proceedings in the Supreme Court of Western Australia.
  • Woodside: Acting for Woodside in proceedings in the Supreme Court of Western Australia arising out of the decommissioning and remediation of the Northern Endeavour and Laminaria-Corallina oil fields.
  • Building products: Acting for a manufacturer in the defence of a consumer law class action regarding cladding products in the Federal Court of Australia. 
  • Subrogation: Acting for a lending syndicate in proceedings in the Supreme Court of Western Australia regarding rights of subrogation in the context of a security trust arrangement.
  • True North Copper: Advising KordaMentha in relation to the administration, sale and restructure of True North Copper Limited and its subsidiaries.
  • Griffin: Advising Griffin and Deloitte as receivers in relation to a dispute concerning an offtake agreement and force majeure claims in the Supreme Court of Western Australia.
  • Alita: Advising KordaMentha in relation to the administration, receivership, sale and restructure of Alita Resources, including proceedings in the Supreme Court of Western Australia.
  • Probuild: Advising Deloitte in relation to the administration, sale and restructure of Probuild.
  • Mining executive: Acting for a client in defending allegations concerning misuse of confidential information and directors’ duty claims in the Supreme Court of Western Australia.
  • Property development: Advising a property developer in relation to oppression, breach of trust and directors’ duty claims in the Supreme Court of South Australia.
